Alhambra Water Co. vs. Horseshoe Tavern
Area: San Francisco
Year: circa 1939
Description: Semi-pro baseball fans were treated to action aplenty at Seals Stadium Sunday when The Alhambra and Horseshoe Tavern clubs tangled in the feature contest, which the Tavern team won, 5 to 4. In the above photo Morrie Veramonties, Alhambra right fielder, is sliding in a cloud of dust while attempting to steal home. He made it safely, but not before barging into teammate Freddie Angilia, who was up at bat. Tavern Catcher Willie Del Chiaro is making vain attempt to find ball in dust storm.
